Couple of suggestions:
Yes, it is feasible to make your own. Buy a book on the subject if you have no experience. One is Dave Sleeters, it's the most recent book on the subject, but there are other. AFN sells several.
Do not use ceramic media in your mill, most people use lead media.
Ceramic and plastic media can produce sparks and have caused explosions in ball mills.
