How big of a shell could a 1 lb rocket lift? 2" , 3" ? bigger? and how high would said shell lift?
your 8oz rockets how are you loading the stars? small canister or shell or just loaded into a header with some type of pasfire to ignight them?

Hi Bill. The only size I have total composition weight on is 1 lb. (3/4 bore tube 7.5 long. This takes 65 grams of composition which is hand rammed on std. coring spindle from Rich Wolter. Composition used is Potassium Nitrate 64%, airfloat charcoal (pine or grapevine) 18%, Pine charcoal 40 to 60 mesh 10%, Sulfur 8%. Comp is sieved 4 times dry and not milled. You can also damp the dry mix and force through 18 mesh screen and dry before ramming or pressing to keep down the dust. In this case the rockets will have somewhat more thrust and could blow your tube. I only press whistle rockets. (I ram 2 lb and 4 lb. and dont make 6 lb) I make more 8 ounce than any other size as I find it a great size for flights. They can loft a surprising amount of stars.
