[BProckets] end burning vs core burning

is there a major difference between end burning and core burning as far as lift/thrust goes? Any other differances such as sound or tail/smoke production?
 
Asumeing both are BP powered.
 
I have to admit 90% of the rockets ive seen go off are wistle/strobe  but the few BP ive seen i like..just something about the sound i love.
